After the tragic shooting in Christchurch, New Zealand last week, the prime minister announced a historic condition. There is now a national ban on all military style semiautomatic weapons, all high-capacity ammunition magazines and all weapons that can be modified into guns. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern was expecting some pushback on this measure, but was immediately supported by Parliament. New Zealand gun owners have already responded online stating they are confused. The Prime Minister is very vocal about banning guns that are similar to what was used in last weeks attack. Purchasing any assault weapon will now be more difficult, requiring a license that goes through an extensive background check.
