NYC schools are going meatless on Mondays

đź“Ť (New York, NY)

Starting this fall, NYC public school lunches will be meat free once a week. The mayors office announced they’re expanding the Meatless Monday pilot program that 15 Brooklyn schools  started last spring. Now all 5 boroughs will provide vegetarian breakfast and lunch to their students. Mayor Bill de Blasio said in a statement that cutting back on meat will not only improve students health,  but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions and help fight climate change. Breakfast and lunch are already free for all NYC students so that won’t change.
