Tonight's pink supermoon will be the biggest and brightest of 2020

Tonight we get to witness a pink supermoon which will be the biggest full moon of the year. It will be at perigee-syzygy which means it will be the closest to Earth and it will look larger and brighter than usual, which is why it’s called a supermoon. Sorry to disappoint though, the moon will not be pink, its called the pink moon because with April comes springtime and a pink wildflower native to eastern North America, Phlox subulata starts blooming.

For New Yorkers, the moon will start rising around 7:00pm EST. What’s even better is you don’t have to leave your house! You can see the moon and all her beauty as long as you have a window facing east, south or west according to a NASA scientist.
